V26.3.11.1
1. Automated 6-Digit Car Number Formatting
What's Changing? Starting with this release, Wheelhouse will automatically standardize all railcar markings to ensure the numeric portion is exactly six digits long. If a car number is entered or imported with fewer than six digits, the system will automatically insert leading zeros to pad the number.
- Before:
PROX23456 - After:
PROX023456
(Note: This only affects the numeric portion of the equipment ID. The alpha reporting mark remains unchanged.)
Why are we making this change?
- EDI & Railroad Compliance: The rail industry standard (Umler) and Class I railroads require 6-digit car numbers for electronic data interchange (EDI). Submitting a Bill of Lading (BOL) without leading zeros can result in syntax rejections or billing errors.
- Eliminating "Lost" Cars: Railroad Car Location Messages (CLMs) are transmitted using the 6-digit format. This update ensures 100% match-rates for live GPS and CLM tracking, preventing duplicate car records or failed tracking updates.
- Cleaner Fleet Management: Standardizing the format ensures that your Car Master lists, Fleet Maps, and reports sort numerically and accurately. You don't need to do anything—Wheelhouse handles the formatting automatically behind the scenes.
2. Custom Product Color-Coding by Yard
What's Changing? You can now configure product display colors on a per-yard basis, rather than being forced to use a single global color for a product across your entire network.
Why are we making this change? We know that visual indicators are critical for safe and efficient yard operations, and color standards don't always match across different facilities or acquired assets. If Propane needs to be color-coded Blue at your Texas terminal but Red at your Alberta facility, Wheelhouse can now accommodate that local standard. This improves visual recognition on the Yard Map, aligns with local safety protocols, and reduces the risk of operational errors for your switch crews.
3. Unified Shipping Schedules UI (Internal & Partner Portal Sync)
What's Changing? The Shipping Schedules interface within the Partner Portal has been completely updated to match the exact layout, design, and functionality of the internal Wheelhouse UI.
Why are we making this change? Collaboration is infinitely easier when everyone is looking at the exact same screen. Previously, internal logistics teams and external partners had slightly different views of the shipping schedules, which caused friction during phone calls or email disputes. By unifying the UI, we have eliminated the guesswork. Whether you are an internal planner or an external partner requesting a shipment, you are now utilizing the same intuitive, powerful schedule view.
