We’ve overhauled how Wheelhouse handles empty returns and yard safety to give you more flexibility.

1. Empty-Residue Shipping

We have updated our shipping logic to better reflect real-world terminal operations. Previously, a car required zero values for weight and volume to be classified as "Empty." Wheelhouse now supports Empty-Residue shipping based on automated tolerance calculations.

  • The "Zero" Requirement is Gone: Cars no longer need to be bone-dry to be billed as empty. If the residual product falls within safe industry limits, the system will now allow the car to be shipped as an empty return.
  • Automated Logic: Wheelhouse automatically checks the car's UMLER data to verify if it meets the residue thresholds:
    • By Weight: Any car with residue weighing less than 2% of its UMLER Load Limit.
    • By Volume: Any car filled to less than 5% of its total Shell Capacity.
  • Manual Override: Users can still manually mark a car as "Empty," provided the current weight and volume do not exceed these mathematical thresholds.

2. Integrated Yard Safety (Bad Order Sync)

For clients utilizing Wheelhouse Yard Management, we’ve linked the yard inspection status to the shipping office.

  • Shipping Blocks: If a car fails a yard inspection and is classified as a 'Bad Order', that status is instantly pushed to the shipment view and the individual car view.
  • Prevention: Wheelhouse will strictly prevent any car with an active 'Bad Order' status from being added to a Bill of Lading (BOL).

3. 'On Hold' Controls

Need to stop a shipment for reasons other than mechanical failure?

  • Users can now toggle an "On Hold" status for individual cars.
  • This creates a digital lock on the car, ensuring it cannot be shipped until the hold is manually cleared by an authorized user.

4. Bulk Move to Unassigned

To improve yard organization and workflow flexibility, we have introduced a new bulk action.

  • Bulk Reassignment: Users can now select multiple cars simultaneously and move them back into the Unassigned Cars track in a single action.
  • This is designed to help clear tracks quickly during reshuffling.
